WOW!

I just finished the most AMAZING book!!! "A Voice in the Wind" by Francine Rivers, the first in her Mark of the Lion series. Oh my goodness!!! So awesome. I cried at the end. :( But it included the first chapter of the next book and I can't wait to go to the LeaKer's tomorrow to put this one back on the shelf and get the next. The book is over 500 pages and it took me a couple tries to get into it, but once I got past the first chapter (it's set in Rome, shortly after Christ when Jerusalem was destroyed)-and all the weird words...man, I was hooked!
So far these last couple weeks I've read Max Lucado: He Chose the Nails; It's Not About Me; Come Thirsty, bits of He's Just Not That Into You and Determing the Relationship. I've also got three more books that my landlord has lent to me, plus a few I bought a while back and now this second book by Francine Rivers. Oh and I'm also in the middle of a novel written from the perspective of Job's wife (Job of the OT, in the Bible), about half way through that one. I'm seriously loving reading SO much! Back in Feb/March I also read Tuesdays with Morrie (really raw and emotional...about one man's friendship with a dying man who had ALS-which my grandfather has), Life & Work (carrying Sunday morning worship into Monday morning office, so many truths!), Philipp Yancey's, What's so Amazing about Grace? And I'm sure there's more. Man, I can't wait to have some of my old college books out here and read them again, without the obligation of having to write a paper, but just wanting, thirsting after more knowledge.
Now I hope that I can find this same desire to read my Bible. I have a hard time with that one. But I keep trying. Seriously, wow. Books are INCREDIBLE. I should get rid of my tv...I don't need it, but I do need more space for books. lol. I can't explain this, I just LOVE reading.
Now that you all think I'm crazy, I'm going to bed. Goodnight.
Love Niki

  1. ***I LOVE THAT BOOK!!!!!***

I own all 3, and I've read the series like 7 times. Actually, I read those books in high school, and ended up taking 24 credits of classical and religious studies at university because of the interest those books sparked in Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.

    Hadassah, Marcus, Julia, Atretes...

Did you read the ones with the newer covers or the super cheesy romance novel-esque ones where Atretes looks like Fabio in a gladiator suit? I have those ones. So embarassing!

  2. lol, ok, wow, I went into that rant before I even read the rest of the post.

I read those books when they just came out, and I read the first chapter of the next book then had to wait a YEAR till it actually came out. ARG! And yeah, the first chapter was a litle gross. "THe city was silently bloating in the hot sun, rotting like the thousands of bodies that lay where they had fallen in street battles." UGH! Nice way to start!

It's not about me - loved it. Come Thirsty - am reading it now. He's just not that into you - SOOO have to read it.

Francine Rivers - pretty much anything by her is great.

Tuesdays with Morrie - read it a while back, too. It was touching.

I also own Yancey's "... Grace" book, too.

So, basically, we read the same books. LOL!

OK, I"m gonig now, cause I think my comment(s) are actually longer than your post itself. Whoops.

  5. I love to read too. I don't think you're crazy. I also understand how hard it is to read your bible. If only the bible was a novel...
