genuine or positive?

If I could ask my co-workers to only be one or the other, I don't think I could choose between being genuine or being positive. You'd think it'd be easy, that a person who is genuine is what we'd all want...

Except that I work with some very miserable people. People who when I ask "did you have a nice vacation?" complain and say "it was hardly a vacation since I had to do so much work and then come back and there's even more piled up...it wasn't even worth it!" or a question like "how was your weekend?" is met with the response "awful, did you even see the weather? Why is it only good weather when we have to work? What a miserable weekend and now it's beautiful, but I have to work...ugh!" or even "hey, I did all the work you asked me to do before others, because I knew you needed it" is met with "I didn't ask you to do anything, that's your job, if you didn't do it then you wouldn't have a job! And if you didn't have a job you wouldn't have a place to stay, or food to eat and then you'd be out on the street. And then I'd kick mud on your face since you'd be annoying me!" (Well I guess it's a good thing there's no mud in the office then, jeesh!!)

Seriously!?!

I so desperately long for people to be genuine in relationships, but when it comes to those I work with, I don't know...

Maybe I should just go into business for myself (or me and Shirley *cough*!!)

  1. You need to come up with some good comebacks to such negativity. One I hear sometimes is:" Who peed in your cornflakes this morning?"
Or, doing some work for someone, :" You're welcome" . What a miserable bunch. Greet them with "Hello sunshine" :)
    Love ya!!!!!!!
