point taken Kristine :P

I realize I haven't blogged since last Monday...and seeing as it's after midnight, it's been a week. What a week it's been.

Monday-um, I don't remember.
Tuesday-snow day!! Sort of. We got a huge dump of snow, but I'd already left for work that morning, so I went to work, had one class and then my two afternoon classes (with midterms) were cancelled. woot! That night I took it easy and just slept, sooo nice.
Wednesday-a REAL snow day! All my classes, and consequently work (since it's at the college), were cancelled. It was also Valentines Day, and a really great one at that. Chuck picked me up about 430 for our date. He brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a really sweet card. We braved the snow storm and went to Caledonia for dinner. We went to the River Bend restaurant and had a candlelight dinner with a view of the river (well, it's really a creek, but whatever) and had the most delicious dinner. It was:
  • Caesar salad
  • Cranberry & Apple stuffed Pork Tenderloin
  • Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake
Yeah, it was delicious, I can see you drooling. Afterwards we just spent some time talking about growing up and looking at pictures, a low-key, but really fun night.
Thursday-back to school. Had one midterm, a couple classes and then I worked and tried to catch up on my workload because the snow day threw everything for a loop and put us behind schedule. It didn't help that my boss had taken her keys home with her and I didn't have a set to access the filing cabinets, which was where all my work was. Oops. Thursday night was the AGM for our church and WOAH, so cool. We voted in favour of buying 7 acres, with a potential to buy an additional 50 acres that neighbour the property. God has really thrown open the doors and we've seen miracles happen. It's a really cool thing to be a part of. I need to explain it in person, a blog just won't do it justice.
Friday-school again, and both jobs. I only work 2 hours on Fridays at the school now, so that I can leave by 3 in order to catch the bus (or get a ride with Mrs. Leaker if she's teaching that day), to get to Sobeys to work my evening shift there. I stayed an extra couple hours because we were ridiculously short-staffed.
Saturday-baked a cake for LA's going away party and went to work. Charles picked me up from work and we came back to pick up my things and I ended up going out to his parents' place for the weekend (he lives about 45 minutes away). We had a fun games night at the church where a few people picked on us and put us on the spot, asking very awkward questions. Like how many children we plan on having, while we were in the middle of playing Uno and right at the time that I shouted out "Uno"...boy was my face red. Awkward!!
Sunday-TODAY! (well, in my mind anyway). Started off the day by having Charles & his dad make breakfast, mmm. Then Charles took me for my first ever snowmobile ride, sooooo fun. I met his cousin who I think offered me a compliment when he asked "do you have any younger sisters?" haha. Then we went to church and afterwards enjoyed a potluck, while recounting 'our story' to many curious small-town folk. After the potluck we headed back into Hamilton for my friend LA's (also, former roomie) going away party and had a delicious roast beef dinner by Mrs. Leaker. Then everyone headed to church, we went out for coffee, back to Laura's and now I'm home.

Tomorrow Laura, Liz, and I are going to Niagara Falls for a night! It's Laura's 21st birthday and so we're going away, also because it's reading week and we all want (need??) a break, desperately.

Blogging may be cut back some, not so much because of the new relationship status, but because my schedule is back to being ridiculous. Mind you, the relationship might have a little something to do with it. ;)

I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch, I'll try to be more diligent...I'll try. I always love the comments and am trying my best to stay on top of everyone's lives out there (wherever 'there' may be). I miss you & thanks for reading. Particularly this novel of a post.

love! niki

EDIT: I forgot to put this in!! I got to drive all the way back from Chuck's place, on a semi-major highway and on busy streets. I did SOOOO good. Chuck is wanting to help me get my license, I'm so excited! :)

  1. Good to hear some news! And such great news at that. :D We have no running water at the moment. I guess I'll write on my blog about that. Wish I'd gotten a few more opinions; I think I'm right, but it's good to hear different viewpoints. Like Rob's, I never really considered that. Good point!

  2. Good to know you're still alive :)
Also good to hear that you stuck your foot in your mouth again, those are always good times. Take it easy reading week. I KNOW you need the break. Sharky and I have the week off from classes too, but I still have to work Wednesday and Friday. Currently I'm making an apple-raspberry crumble. It's going to be delicious.
