finally a real update

Okay, so it's been a while since I've actually updated and told you what's going on. First of all, many people have asked why I'm being expected to do the renovations on the apartment, I should clear that up. The reason we (Kyle, Alex, Josh, Mr. L & I) have done the renovations is because in exchange I was given a break on rent, letting me move in 2 weeks early. Mind you, for the amount of work that we've done (and yet to do), it doesn't feel like it was necessarily the best exchange. But I won't argue, at least having Kyle and the others around, I knew that the job would get done well. You can tell the parts that we didn't do, but no worries. It's not like this is going to be my home forever, but for now I like it. :)
With that cleared up...what else is new? Well I've been working like crazy, working 7 shifts a week, in 6 days. I work Mon-Wed and Sobey's, Thur-Sat and Subway and in between Friday and Saturday shifts at Subway I've been doing a night shift at Sobey's. That's hard. But you gotta do, what you gotta do. Anyways, that Friday night shift is going to become more periodic, probably once every 4 or 5 weeks, instead of every week. So then I'm only down to 6 shifts a week. :) Then on Sundays I've been staying pretty busy with Church on the Rock (CoTR).
I see Kyle almost every day, in the last month and a half I think there's only been 2 days we didn't see each other? Yeah, twice. It's really great having him so close! :) He'll usually come over once a week for dinner, letting me practice my cooking (story later). :) I'm really enjoying cooking!! (again, story later) And the sweetheart that he is, he'll usually pick me up from work, even at 4:30 am on Saturday mornings!! I'm SOOOO thankful for that!!
Okay, I'll stop before I get all gushy.
Last night we went to see a musical theatre show that a girl from Cherith (camp out here) was in, she was actually had the leading role. It was amazing!!! It was a small community theatre, but I thought it was SO well done. VERY impressed! That was a lot of fun, and I got to meet more camp people (Ellen, Pete, Andrew, Jo) and see some that I don't get to see very often. It was a lot of fun, too bad that Kyle and I were practically falling asleep at the table! :( But in two weeks there is a walk in at camp for all the staff, and I get to tag along, so hopefully we'll get to spend some more time with those people, and get to know them better. After last night though, I'm realizing that I really prefer to hang out in small groups of people-you just get to actually talk to the people you're with, and small little cliques can't form when there's only 4 or 5 people there. Oh well, sometimes its just more convenient to invite a bunch of people-regardless, we had fun! :) And it was Chelsea's birthday, so Jo & Alex baked her a cake that morning and brought it into the restaurant and we sang to her at midnight. We got home REALLY late-like 3 am.
The getting home late would've been okay if I had been able to sleep in, but I was up at 7 for sound setup at church. :( So I've only slept about 7 hours this weekend, since getting up for work on Friday morning. I'm going to be having a nap this afternoon. But first I wanted to write about my cooking adventures.
So, two weeks ago I bought some kabobs that I wanted to try for like, forever! and I tried them and burnt them. Basically to a crisp. Kyle tried REALLY hard to eat it, but he couldn't. So he ate the rice, and I ate the charcoal. It was good times had by all. But I redeemed myself last Wednesday, I made chicken cordon bleu. And this is the fun part-it was homemade! I've never thought that I could make something like that homemade, we always just bought it, as long as I can remember. It turned out soooooo good. My favourite part was that I had to use toothpicks to hold the chicken together (cuz you wrap it up with ham & cheese inside, but the only toothpicks we could find were coloured ones-so our chicken had some colour to it when it had finished baking in the oven. haha. But the food tasted so good!
What else? OH, how could I forget!?? I got my learners license!! My friend wanted to take me driving after church today, but I was just TOO tired, and it wouldn't be a good idea to drive when I'm tired. But I get to go driving this week, first time (legally). hee hee. I'm so excited!!
Otherwise, I think that's all my news. Wow, this ended up being much longer than I had expected. But now it's time to get a little bit of sleep before Kyle gets home from buying a new truck. That crazy boy...
Love you all and look forward to reading your blogs...when I wake up! :)

  2. you seem to like to work more than I do. just remember, don't let them leave you alone all night, cuz that would be bad. also, if i ever come to visit you, i should get free stuff. like free lettuce. that'd be sweet.
